Nilmurhaa Apartment:
We want to thank you Ann and Chris for the lovely stay at Nilmurhaa. The apartment is cosey and comfortable, anything you need you can find, a fully equipped kitchen, very useful books about walks, birds and maps. . . The welcome pack was highly appreciated and it's an original idea too. Shetland Islands are really beautiful, we had wonderful walks and saw alot of wild animals, puffins, seals, one otters and alot of different birds. Eshaness and Hermaness reserves are a must. You can find georgous views behind every corner. We hope will come back one day. The weather during our stay was windy, cloudy and sunny but never rainy.

Nilmurhaa Apartment:
Thank you for a lovely week at Nilmurhaa, in beautiful, peaceful surroundings and think that Shetland is beautiful.
Thanks for your generous food box which made self catering easier and was very useful. Home made bread was a bonus. We have had a good week for weather only one day of rain and another rather damp, but we had a superb day for travelling through Yell-Unst and then walking to Muckle Flugga- a day to remember.
The museum in Lerwick is excellent and we had our own guide for two hours which made the experience all the more worthwhile. We had a lunch and an evening meal at the restaurant at the Lerwick museum which were excellent.
Thanks again & hope you have a successful summer for bookings

Nilmurhaa Cottage:
Thanks so much for a lovely week, its a beautiful spot and really good location for exploring the islands. Cottage has been ideal and worked very well for us all.
Thank you once again, best of luck with everything here, can definitely see the attraction!! - I will be visiting again!

Nilmurhaa Apartment:
Yes, it is October, as we expected plenty of strong winds, rain - mainly heavy showers most days, but we have enjoyed good sunny periods. With a low sun this has given us many 'Rainbows' and beautiful light on the countryside. We have watched two otters, one at Billister about 1/2 mile right to the pier, the second one at The Brig, North Collafirth by the pier. The 'house otter' proved to be more elusive, my wife had a brief view of it behind the garage, down the drive, but not in the bay.
We have had a very relaxing holiday at 'Nilmurhaa', despite the weather we have been warm and cosy.
Our thanks to Ann and Chris for the Welcome Pack and the loaves of home baked bread. Your attention to detail was much appreciated.

Nilmurhaa Apartment:
Memorable week!
Spectacular scenery. Amazing wildlife!   Accommodation just what was needed.   Food Pack on arrival very much appreciated. Bread - super!  It would appear we had more than our share of 'otters', just wonderful.   Chris's technical skills - invaluable???

Thank you Ann for everything.

Nilmurhaa Apartment:
A warm welcome by Ann made us feel at home right away - we loved the house; well designed to be both functional and comfortable, with many thoughtful touches which were much appreciated, not the least the delicious pile of goodies! Our one regret was not being able to sit outside to enjoy the view or see the otters, but the weather really didn't allow for that, perhaps next time!

We had so many interesting visits to places all over the island, (so impressed by the museum we went twice!!) Spectacular walks at St Ninian's Isle and Eshaness, the highlight being our trip to Unst thanks to Ann deciphering the ferry timetable! So many lovely memories, particularly the friendliness and kindness of the people of Shetland and the peace and beauty of the island - Thank you Ann and Chris for a wonderful week.

September 2008.

Nilmurhaa Apartment:
We have absolutely loved our holiday in Shetland, the weather has been fantastic, we have enjoyed some fantastic walking (St. Ninian’s Isle, Hillswick Ness, Eshaness and from here to Billister).
For otter watching we would recommend sitting on the bank with a glass of wine outside the house on an evening for the best chance of seeing the ‘house otter’ and we saw a family of three otters at Billister (take a right from the pier and follow the coast road. ) We spent an amazing ¾ hour following and watching them fish! For birdlife we loved Noss, Hermaness on Unst and Sumburgh although everywhere we went we saw birds we have never seen before.
A special thanks to Ann, Chris (Belle) who have made our stay even more enjoyable. Many thanks for all the extras and we have enjoyed talking to you during our week here. We wish you all the best for the future.

Nilmurhaa Apartment:
Our second holiday in Shetland. How things have changed – much more to do and more information about the islands. Suppose that’s to be expected after 44years!  This time the weather was perfect, no rain, lots of sun, no gales.

Otter sightings – one ran across the lawn outside lounge window – two ran across the lawn below the house (Ann can confirm this – it wasn’t just the wine) and a number of sightings in the sea.   A most enjoyable holiday. Highlights – two days geologising with Allan Fraser (Geotours) and a trip round Noss.

Our thanks to Ann for the Welcome basket and the very comfortable accommodation.

Many thanks for an enjoyable, relaxing, happy holiday.

Nilmurhaa Apartment:
Firstly we would like to thank Ann and Chris for the splendid welcome goodies, they set the scene for a great two weeks stay. Is it really two weeks since we arrived? How time flies when you are enjoying yourselves.
To save time on telling you what we did and what we saw just flick through the previous pages and that tells it all (except for the Orca) we didn’t see one up to the time of writing but if we’re lucky we may spot one or two on the way back to Aberdeen.
Thanks again Ann, Chris and Belle.

Nilmurhaa Apartment:
What to say, warm, comfortable and extremely friendly place to stay. Shetland generally extremely welcoming.
Memorable moment: spotting and photographing the killer whale
(Orca) in the inlet and hunting close in up the shore on 30th June and the next day. Clearly a satisfactory feeding ground – unsurprisingly, the otters were invisible (to us – but Ann saw them. )
Very many thanks for the Welcome Pack on arrival – much appreciated.

Chiswick, London,

Nilmurhaa Apartment:
We were too busy and the weather was too good to go otter watching in the bay and we hardly even had time for the Shetland Museum. John enjoyed helping to row the new ‘ sixareen’ there and non rowers can go as passengers – a great way to see Lerwick harbour.
All the superlatives have been used up by previous guests and we can’t say anymore, than we loved the cottage and have had a fantastic time on Shetland.
Thanks for everything.

Hampshire, England,
June 2008.

This is undoubtedly the best holiday let we have ever had – warm, comfortable and perfectly situated. The Welcome pack was more than welcome and the daily bread greatly appreciated.

After an extremely harrowing time at work and a very busy period with family commitments – this week has been the perfect wind down.

Despite Ann’s constant apologies for the weather, we have had the most wonderful time – watching otters at Billister, lunching at Lunna Ness surrounded by seals, being dive bombed by Great Skuas on St Ninian’s Isle and especially watching Sea Eagles at Burrastowe – eat your heart out, Bill Oddie!

Our first trip to Shetland and certainly won’t be our last.

Thank you so much Ann and Chris and a word of advice for Chris – if you’ve got to leave Shetland then go to Glasgow!

Seighford, Stafford, June 2008.

Nilmurhaa is a good place to stay: quiet, from the garden a nice view on Noss and a fine bed.
We enjoyed Shetland on our bicycles most of the time. We also did some walking. The last 3 days of our stay (2 ½ week in total) we rented a car and went to Hermaness and saw Bonxies, Gannets, Puffins, Fulmars and Shags.
We missed the house otter but instead we had a good look at the house rabbits.
Thanks for the fruit, the eggs, the bread etc.

The Netherlands, June 2008.

Our Shetland holiday has been wonderful with too many highlights to mention though Eshaness and Hermaness should not be missed.
The weather has been mixed. Some bright sunny times mixed with squally showers – windy most of the time! Still it did not detract from our enjoyment.
Thank you Ann for all our ‘goodies’ – the strawberries were delicious! And also our warm welcome and answers to all our questions!
Wish we could say we will be back again to these beautiful islands – hope so.

Preston, Lancashire, June 2008.

Had a lovely week here with only 1 day of poor weather – even had to go and buy suncream.
Best bits – Noss – the closest you will get to Puffins and Gannets. St Ninian’s – lovely walk and spectacular beach.
Unst/Yell – very different islands and much quieter than the mainland.
Saw the otter on two occasions just swimming past here while out for a walk in the evening and seals pop up now and again.
Had some lovely food but would recommend: Monty’s in Lerwick, great fish and chips from the Fort Café and the Braewick Café near Eshaness was a God send on our rainy day.
Thanks for everything.

Harrow Middlesex, May 2008

Fantastic week – great weather, great walks, great scenery, great welcome, great accommodation. The bread and scones were fantastic too – thanks a lot folks. So much to do in Shetland that a week was never going to be long enough.
This is another way of life – and this week the weather made it for us. Roads are great – never know what’s round the next corner!!
Highlights – view from our accommodation; visit to St Ninian’s Isle, Moussa, the Shetland Museum which we planned to save for a rainy day which never materialised!
So we’ll be back for sure, if only to see those elusive otters everyone else seems to have seen.
Thanks Ann for everything and good luck to Chris with his career.

Selkirk, The Scottish Borders, May 2008.

We had a very nice week at Nilmurhaa.
The house was comfortable, the weather was warm and sunny most of the time.
We walked a lot in the neighbourhood; there is enough to see without going far. We saw otters and seals, birds of course and special flowers.
Thanks for the welcome pack, the bread and the cake and your kindness.

The Netherlands, May 2008

Thanks for use of your lovely home. Weather’s been lovely most days. Been to most of the Isles. Ferries great. Seen the otters playing at Fetlar. Watched an otter in the Bay just down the coast (here) for 40 minutes. Seals all over. Puffins at St. Ninian’s Isle and Sumburgh Head. Lovely walk St Ninian’s Isle. Thanks again for the welcome.
P.S. Thanks again Chris for the camera.

Accrington, Lancashire, April 2008

Thank you Ann, Chris and Belle for providing us with such a lovely snug and welcoming ‘home from home’ for our week on the Shetlands. We have enjoyed superb weather, most days being warm, sunny and bright. Although we did get caught out on Meal beach when it started to snow! We have seen 1 otter and 1 seal up close. Nilmurhaa is a fantastic base to use as home whilst exploring all that beautiful Shetland has to offer. Thanks again for your kindness and hope to see you again soon!
